Machine-Mounted Collection
Individual mist collectors can provide dedicated extraction at each machine and may be a practical option when equipment is spread throughout the facility or operates independently.
Centralized Mist Collection
A centralized system can serve multiple machines through common ductwork and may simplify collector maintenance, but proper branch design, airflow balance and machine connections become especially important.
Supplemental Facility Filtration
When mist has already escaped the machines and accumulated within the facility, supplemental ambient filtration may be considered alongside improvements to direct machine extraction.
Capture the Mist Before It Reaches the Facility
For enclosed machining processes, controlling the contaminant at the machine is generally preferable to allowing mist to escape into the surrounding building and trying to remove it later.
That requires more than simply adding airflow. Machine openings, enclosure leakage, extraction location and airflow volume all influence whether mist remains contained without creating unnecessary operating cost or affecting the machining process.

A dedicated collector may make sense when a single machine creates a localized mist problem, when machines operate independently, or when flexibility is important.
Multiple Machines
Multiple machines can be connected to a common system when the application supports it. Duct sizing, simultaneous operation, balancing and future machine additions should be considered before the system is selected.
Facility-Wide Mist
Visible haze across a machining department can indicate that several machines are contributing to the problem. The evaluation should consider both individual machine capture and the way air moves through the building.
